I've used various brands of hair colors over the years. I keep coming back to this inexpensive one. It is not true, in this case, that because this is less expensive, it won't do the job with quality. I have fairly healthy hair, and this Balsam doesn't seem to damage it as much as others I've tried. I have gotten complements on my hair color from complete strangers, asking what my hair color is (brand and shade). I will use medium brown, but have started using ash brown, which is a slightly lighter med. brown. I usu. just do the roots every few weeks, then drag the color down into the rest of the hair. This color will fade more quickly than others. So I use shampoo and conditioner made for dyed hair, and I usu. wear a hat while walking the dogs. I don't know what I'll do if they quit making Balsam. I guess I'll switch to Nice N Easy (but Balsam is better for me and looks more natural). Whatever I use, it'll probably be Clairol. This co. has been in hair treatments forever, so they've got this business downpat.
